Creative Karaoke Player is a fun application that turns any song from your digital music collection, be it MP3s, WMAs or WAV files, into karaoke music. You don't need to acquire special equipment or expensive karaoke discs to enjoy karaoke at home; everything is available from your computer with a Sound Blaster X-Fi sound card and Creative Karaoke Player.

Reminiscent of actual Karaoke machines, all the details, down to the individual knobs and buttons are realistically replicated in the interface to give you that authentic karaoke experience.

Voice Suppression

The main engine behind Karaoke Player is Creative's proprietary voice suppression technology.

Here is how it works:
Assuming that the vocals are mixed equally in both the left and right channels, they can be removed by changing the phase relationship of the channels by 180 degrees. By doing so, the vocals "cancel each other", leaving behind the instruments.

Although the quality of the final effect may vary from song to song (due to the different mixing methodologies), Karaoke Player provides you with the flexibility of 3 voice suppression modes so that you'll get the best voice canceling results possible.

  • Standard Mode - Mono

    • This mode is ideal for recordings where the instruments are positioned in the extreme ends of the stereo image.

  • Standard Mode - Stereo

    • This mode does the best job of removing the vocals in recordings where the instruments are in the center of the stereo image.

  • Advanced Mode

    • If the recording has strong bass lines, this mode would preserve most of it while the vocals are removed.

    Song List

    Similar to the "Now Playing" panel in Creative MediaSource or Windows Media Player, the Song List allows you to add a list of songs to be played in a certain order. If you desire, you can also save the list of songs as a playlist in Creative MediaSource by clicking the "Save As" button.

    Lyrics Synchronization

    Creative Karaoke Player allows lyrics to be added and synchronized with a few simple clicks. Thereafter, the lyrics will be displayed and highlighted line-by-line as the track progresses, similar to what you see from actual karaoke videos. Once these synchronized lyrics are saved, they will be displayed whenever the track is imported and played in Creative Karaoke Player.

    To synchronize the lyrics to the song, just copy (from a web page) and paste them into the "Lyrics" panel, play the song, and click "Mark Start Time" just before the line is sung. It's that simple! Alternatively, if you have the relevant LRC* file, you can import it directly into Karaoke Player

    *LRC is a popular lyrics file format with time tags to synchronize lyrics with audio/video files.

    Time Scaling

    In addition to the voice suppression technology and lyrics display support, Karaoke Player also provides Time Scaling, a feature that can slow down or speed up a song without affecting its pitch. Absolutely indispensable for deciphering the vocal gymnastics or to fast-preview certain phrases in your favorite songs.

    Microphone Effects

    To get that great feeling of singing in a live arena, all you have to do is to enable Karaoke Player's Mic Effects. Your voice will be added with the appropriate amounts of reverberations to replicate what is heard from the actual locations. Choose one of the eight EAX presets and be instantly transported to the amphitheater, jazz club, or even the orchestra pit.
