The Ultimate Gaming Shootout was a new feature of the 2005 International CES, the consumer electronic industry’s largest annual tradeshow. Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel was invited by CEA, the CES organizer, to do a competitive PC gaming exhibition at the the Central Plaza of the show venue in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event was held between January 6-9, 2005.
The shootouts were open to event attendees who wanted the chance to play against Fatal1ty. Competitions consisted of 1v1 matches for 5-minutes or 6 frags (points) whichever came first. US$5,000 cash along with various PC hardware including our award-winning Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS audio card and ABIT's Fatal1ty motherboard were put up as prizes for whoever could take down Fatal1ty. Unfortunately, no one managed to defeat Johnathan at the CES-Ultimate shootout.
